The Event

One of the most enjoyable aspects of these Community Events, aside from the opportunity to play an early build of the game and EA Sports' hospitality, is the camaraderie between the community members that attend them. I haven't attended any other EA events being a website dedicated only to NBA Live but there's we've always had a good group of people involved and this year was no exception.

There were no expensive shopping trips to the NBA Store this time around but aside from some highly enjoyable and competitive games at the event, a few of us made it a point to check out the night life in Vancouver. I won't go into too much detail (not that anything particularly unsavoury happened) but one of the more noteworthy events for me was discovering an AFL (Australian Rules Football) game being shown in an Irish pub a few of went to. Being from New South Wales, specifically Newcastle, rugby league is the code of football I'm most familiar with so I wasn't able to explain a lot of the rules to the guys but we all enjoyed taking in the game. It's certainly the last thing I expected to see, so far from home!

A big thank you to Marcus for organising another fantastic event that really focused on the game while still leaving time for some extracurricular activities. A big thank you also to the producers who gave us their time to explain everything in great detail and patiently answering our questions. The producers do cop a lot of flak from the community in general but I can tell you that they were very receptive to and serious about our feedback.

Finally, I'd like to thank my fellow community members who attended the event. As I said the camaraderie really makes the events enjoyable and having been to a few of these events now, it's great to meet up with some familiar faces like Mario, Shawn and Bryan (Pastapadre) as well as meet some people. I'd certainly suggest you check out their coverage of the event as well.
